Author & Teacher

In her writing studio perched on the shore of the country's oldest wildlife sanctuary, Lake Merritt, in Oakland, California, Teresa writes short stories, essays, novels, interviews and book reviews. When she isn’t reading or producing her own work, Teresa offers workshops and master classes through Lakeshore Writers Workshop, and works one-on-one with writers to support the development of their unique voices and individual work.

The good writer seems to be writing about himself, but has his eye always on that thread in the universe that runs between him and all things.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

My work explores class, the workings of relationship, family, growing up and bad behavior.  I am intrigued by the dilemma of memory in our moments and the ways that fear and loss shape us; I write to reveal the comic in the tragic of our lives.   I write to discover the how and why of the moments when everything changes, or doesn't, and to experience such moments from within someone else's skin. Ultimately, I write to discover myself.  Teresa
